Alquezar:- southern white admiral
Alquezar (see links a) to wiki and b) to Alquezar's own municipal site) is a fortified hill top settlement in Aragon, in the foothills of the Spanish pyrenees. It is surrounded by deep canyons, including that of the river Vero.
In the middle picture some people swimming in the river at the base of the canyon are just visible as small specks.
The walk into the canyon is rugged and steep and the cool shade provides a special habitat for butterflies. This is the southern white admiral. It is much bluer in coloration than its northern cousin.
